What is this large post outside the old house? 🤔

The large stone standing next to the water well is an historic hitching post.
Hmmm, what is a hitching post? 🤔 Here is the response from RI Historical Preservation & Heritage commission…
Those holes in the front appear to be filled with lead, which probably held the pins from which iron rings would have dangled. These were often placed not far from the front doors of houses so a visitor’s horse(s) had a place to be parked 🐴🐴🐴.

Thank you @rihphc_pres for your help!🙏 🤓 A post about a post….

my kids and I had a lot of fun

Google Translation:

it is a house with a long history, the decoration and maintenance of the house are very good. The house is equipped with all modern high-quality household items, including three coffee machines that can make different kinds of coffee. There are so many lovely decorative paintings and objects inside the house, my kids and I had a lot of fun finding over twenty trinkets containing chickens and over thirty ducks. My kids visit Ronnie's chickens in the chicken coop behind the house every day. Ronni brought us fresh eggs every day and gave us a small gift when we left. He is the most friendly and welcoming host I have ever met and responded promptly to any messages we had. I hope to live in this comfortable and lovely house next time. Ronnie, thank you for your hospitality.
