“A portrait of Rhode Island is as much an image of sea as of land, for the state is dominated by a coastline that has lured countless visitors, including America’s fore- most landscape painters. Rhode Island has been noted throughout its history for its natural beauty and healthful climate, and was first described in 1789 as the “Eden of America.” Conveniently located between Boston and New York City and easily accessible by train or steamer, Rhode Island evolved during the 19th century into America’s seaside playground. Newport, the colonial rival to New York and Boston, was reborn in the last century as the summer haunt of America’s social elite. Across the Bay to the west, the smaller island of Conanicut (Jamestown) was popular as a picturesque site for excursions from Newport. On the western mainland shore was Narragansett, famous for its Pier and Casino and known by 1880 as the “city of hotels,” while at the Connecticut border, Watch Hill with its popular bathing beaches. developed. Artists were attracted to Rhode Island throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, and it is the combination of land, sea and sky, and the variety of visual possibilities created by these elements, that dominate their paintings…”

This was our second stay at Cole Farm and it was as wonderful as the first. This is a unique AirBnB experience. The building itself is so interesting. The central fireplace is such a unique feature. But it is the furniture and decor that really makes this place. So many interesting pieces, so much local history. In addition it has absolutely everything you need, a very well stocked kitchen and lots of amenities. And then, of course, there are the chickens! Fresh eggs every day delivered to your door. Ronnie is a very kind and considerate host, and left a special treat for us as well. Our family has now spent two holidays here and we will certainly come again. We love coming here to relax and enjoy Providence.

We loved everything about our stay! Definitely one of the best Air BnBs I’ve stayed at. Beautiful, cozy, characterful, spacious, and very well appointed. Ronnie was a fantastic host and even provided us with fresh eggs from the coop in the yard. Thanks, Ronnie!

I’ve stayed in about 50 Airbnbs at this point and this one is easily among the very best. I felt instantly at home, it was warm, everything I needed was there, the host was friendly, generous, and extremely responsive. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Cole Farm was a fabulous place for us to stay with our two daughters while visiting family for thanksgiving. The location is great, near a lot in Providence and the accommodations are both nicely stocked and very fun with lots of unique characteristics. Our girls loved the duck themes and staying in a real farmhouse. You got a sense of a real farmhouse without sacrificing modern amenities. Ronnie was an excellent host who went above and beyond, even bringing fresh eggs from the farm chickens. We hope to be back soon!
